The Hippocampus Children's Library and Experience Centre was set up in 2003 for the sole purpose of giving children in the community access to an incredible variety of books - with the aim to promote reading for joy. The ever-increasing collection of books, the friendly and informed staff, and a welcoming space, are what give Hippocampus a unique position amongst children's libraries. The library hosts over 17,000 books spread across 53 genres. The collection is curated to address children from toddlers to young adults. Reading here is supported by storytelling, author/illustrator interactions, and book-themed events.
Over the years Hippocampus started addressing other issues pertinent to our vision to inspire children to want to read more. This we attempt through our School Library Services - which involve meticulous book curation, carefully designed librarian trainings, reading programs and library curriculum and vibrancy programs.
Hippocampus has now been in the business of promoting reading and libraries for over 15 years.
